Starting on Tuesday 13 November at 7.30pm, the first meeting will consider ‘Mystery Language’ – poetry and prayer and the links between them. The group will be reading poems by George Herbert, Carol Ann Duffy and others that examine this theme, and discussing them from any angle that participants might wish. Future meetings are planned on Tuesdays 11 December and 15 January, again at 7.30pm. All meetings are free of charge. For more information contact Martyn Halsall. Just down the road, Carlisle poet Malcolm Carson has agreed to run a new poetry group for Bookends, Carlisle’s ever enterprising indie bookshop. Malcolm will select a number of poems for discussion at the first meeting on Tuesday 20 November (7.00pm-9.00pm), and copies will be available in advance as a free booklet from the shop.
