The Wordsworth Trust’s new poetry season begins with two poets drawing on history and folklore.

David Morley’s recent poetry, culminating in his acclaimed collection Enchantment, draws on his Romany ancestry to reinvent the oral tradition of poetry. In myths of origin and the natural world, history and folk wisdom, he weaves spells of Romany and circus language and invents forms and shapes. Listeners will be drawn into a magical and mysterious world.

Sasha Dugdale’s new poems evoke the ghosts and presences that stay on the margins of our lives, crossing Europe to the chalk downs of Sussex and the edges of towns. Her new collection, Red House, draws on folksong, lament and the lyric tradition.
