Book launch: A Penny Spitfire by Brindley Hallam Dennis
Brindley Hallam Dennis introduces his new novella, set in 1947 in a town inspired by the author’s childhood memories of Burton Upon Trent. Against a background of industrial steam engines, hauling their trains between the dark brick walls of brewery buildings, the book’s protagonists struggle to come to terms with the changes that war and history have forced upon them.

Ann the Poet in partnership with Brewery Arts presents: Spoken Word Open Mic event
A night for poets, storytellers, comedians and anyone who loves words. Come and perform at the open mic or relax and watch performances. This month’s guests are Deep ClutterSteve Lewis (Voice) & Shaun Blezard (Electronics) – performing an improvised set of instant remixes of text from the evening’s performances.

Dreamfired Storynights presents: Tim Ralphs performs From The Odd
Familiar tales are pulled from a bin bag, Orpheus’s lyre is broken, and the Devil bets souls on a game of scrabble. This is a compelling, weird and hilarious collection of stories that award winning young storyteller Tim Ralphs has found in skips, sheds, and amongst the stars.
His work draws on traditional story, the ever-changing cityscape of his home, myth, legend and the badger that lives at the bottom of his garden, with absurd imagery and some gore. Recommended for adults and children over 12.
